Anger Management

“A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.” Proverbs 29:11

“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered.”  Proverbs 22:24

“The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.”  Psalm 145:8

Isn’t it amazing that we have the problem with anger and so many time attribute that emotion to God as though He were ready to crush us because of sin.  Yet, He is the one with compassion and slow to anger.

Maybe anger managment and the key to control is to have the mind of God our Father.

I think you’re right. And the first step is actually wanting to manage that anger and have that mind of God. As one who has dealt with an inherited hot temper (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!), I find squelching it is hardest when I’m really wanting to blow up anyway! It’s something I’ve worked on all my life…………..

Being a Christian counselor, I have seen the role anger plays in mental illness, spiritual depression and sinful behaviors. I am convinced anger issues are at the core of many other issues. There really needs to be some godly Christian teaching on managing anger. IMHO

The problem with anger management is that unless it’s the working of the Holy Spirit producing divine fruit in our lives, even the anger management is going to ultimately fail. We simply cannot do on our own what only God can do in us through Christ. But we keep trying and we keep failing. Good reminder, Keith.
